Indian national congress history
The final idea of the INC was shaped by a retired English civil servant, A.O Hume, who mobilized leading intellectuals of the time and with their cooperation organized the first session of the INC under the Presidentship of Womesh Chandra Bonnerjea at Bombay in December 1885.
Hereafter, the INC met every year in December in a different part of the country. In 1890, Kadambini Ganguly, the first woman graduate of Calcutta University, addressed the congress session.
Aims and Objective of Indian national congress
The following are the aims and objectives of the INC:
- Found a democratic, nationalist movement.
- Politically educate and politicize the people.
- Establish the headquarter for a movement.
- Promote friendly relations among nationalist political workers from across the country.
- Develop an anti-colonial ideology.
- Promote Indian nationhood.
