What is full of wifi?
Wi-Fi is a local area wireless networking technology based on the 802.11 standards of IEEE from the family of wireless network protocols. The word “wifi” is not an acronym but many think it has the “wireless fidelity” as its full form but the Wi-Fi alliance which is the alliance of around 800 companies in the world owns the registration of the wifi never officially stated the “wireless fidelity” as its full form.
What is Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi – Wireless Fidelity
Wi-Fi is a wireless technology that is used to connect electronic devices like mobiles, computers, laptops, etc. available in the local area. The devices which are connected to the wifi share or transfer the data using the radiofrequency. The wifi is the most widely used wireless technology around the world. The Wi-Fi technology was first time introduced in the year 1998 for limited use in the Netherland which is the birthplace of Wi-Fi. The commercial use of Wi-Fi was started by Apple when in the year 1999 it introduced it in the iBook laptop series.
The Wi-Fi Alliance was formed as the trade association to own the trademark registration of Wi-Fi, this alliance is the part of more than 800 companies from all over the world.
Using Wi-Fi as a hotspot
The wifi can also be used as the hotspot which allows the user to share his/her internet with others. The hotspot has a range of up to 66 feet that is 20 meters. So, without any physical connection, the users can use the internet on their devices.
The IEEE standards for Wi-Fi
On the IEEE specification the Wi-Fi has the following standards which are given below:
- 802.11a
- 802.11b
- 802.11g
- 802.11n
- 802.11ac
The accessing range of the internet is more in the 802.11g or 802.11b standards that are for the outdoor it has 92 meters and for the indoor devices it has around 36.5 meters.
FAQ’s on WiFi
Ans.) Wifi uses the radio frequency to connect with the devices and because of this, the users are able to use the internet and share the data.
Ans.) The Wi-Fi technology was first time introduced in the year 1998 for limited use in the Netherland.
Ans.) WiFi works on the normal electricity and the inverter also produces the same current. So, wifi works completely fine on the invertor.
Ans.) Airplane mode is for the mobile network and the wifi works on the different radio frequencies so, the wifi works completely fine in the airplane mode.
Ans.) The mobile network has nothing to do with the wifi and the wifi works on the different radio frequencies so, the wifi works completely fine without a sim card.
Ans.) There was no single person who invented the wifi, the Wi-Fi technology was first time introduced in the year 1998 for limited use in the Netherland. Now the WiFi Alliance of more than 800 companies looks after the wifi.
Ans.) The Wifi uses the radio frequency to work and the radio frequency is not harmful to humans.
