What is the AM-PM Full Form?
AM and PM both are the representation of the 12-hour clock system, which is used to represent the before noon and afternoon. The A.M represents the before noon and P.M represents the after-noon.
The full form of AM is “Ante Meridiem” and the full form of PM is “Post Meridiem”. The Ante Meridiem denotes the “before midday” and the Post Meridiem denotes the “after midday”. The word Ante Meridiem is a Latin word that is first time used in the year 1563 and Post Meridiem is also a Latin word that is used in the year 1647.
In the 12-hour time zone, the time difference in day and night time is represented by them. The 24-hours of the day is divided by the ‘am’ and ‘pm’ and it divides the day into two equal time zones of 12-hours each.
The first time zone of 12-hours in a day extends from 12 am-midnight to 12 pm noon and the second time zone of 12-hours in a day extends from 12 pm noon to 12 am-midnight.
To clear the confusion of this concept let’s understand it with an example. Let’s say I will go to my office at 7 O clock, now this will sound confusing because no one will understand whether it is 7 in the morning or 7 in the evening. So, to avoid this confusion ‘am’ and ‘pm’ is used. So, when we say 7 am it will represent the 7 in the morning and when we say 7 pm it will represent the 7 in the evening.
